Strategy & Architecture

Strategy & Architecture

We provide IT strategy and consultancy for data centre, network infrastructures and business applications.

We recognise that technology is not the only piece of a successful solution. People, process, and managing risk play key roles in a successful IT project.

Getting to a point where a team can proactively and continuously manage risk, work and communicate effectively, and align technology solutions with business requirements is critical for IT success and often the most difficult aspect to achieve.

These very areas, however, are often the root causes of IT project failure. Flexible Computing has developed risk management, team, and process models to provide guidance in these crucial areas.

By using our models, concepts, principles, and practices, organisations can:

  • Create solutions that better match the business and user requirements.
  • Speed up development and deployment cycles.
  • Lower the cost of owning technology.
  • Improve success on planned events.
  • Improve resilience to unplanned events.
  • Create scalable and reliable technology solutions.
  • Improve core IT competencies.
  • Achieve short-term results while maintaining a long-term planning strategy.
  • Manage project risks.

We have worked with every version of Novell NetWare, Windows 2000, XP, 2003, 2008, SQL Server, Exchange Server and Windows 7, including commercial releases, interim, beta builds, and service packs.

We have gained a tremendous amount of experience in the IT industry whilst working on strategy, design and implementation projects.

Our consultants have worked at BAE Systems, BT, BBC, The Crown Prosecution Service, Unilever, Cornwall County Council, Devon County Council, The Environment Agency, Lewisham Hospital, MTV, CSC, ICL, HM Customs Excise, The Home Office, Cornwall County Council, Devon County Council, Dell, HP and McDonalds.

Our consultants have been responsible for managing, designing, implementing, supporting and configuring both small and large international multi-site systems ranging from 50 to 45,000 workstations.

Some questions to ask your potential solutions provider:

  • Does the Design align information technology (IT) goals with business goals, enhance core business processes, or provide competitive advantages in the marketplace?
  • Have they investigated how a change to one area of the enterprise will impact others?
  • Have they identified opportunities to add value to the business side of the organisation by applying technology in an innovative way?
  • Are they allowing the technology to be implemented in a proactive, coordinated, and focused manner based on business strategy?
  • Are they making efficiencies possible, such as eliminating duplication of effort and reusing and leveraging IT investments and resources?
  • Are they reducing the complexity of migration and the risks that change introduces?
